Hooray! Life Drawing Classes started up again!

(My scanner is small, so this is actually a photo)

Back at it!

Public Gardens

This is a painting I did for my sister and her fiance. Now that she's happily married, I can finally post it. The scene is of the Public Gardens in Halifax. A beautiful spot if you ever visit.
Medium is Gouache. (Sorry that it is not a better photo, the painting was too big for my scanner.)

New Website!

Well, it's been quite a while since my last post... I've had plenty to keep me busy, including a new Website. Here is the link if you are interested: http://animationnb.com/2007/jdoiron/
(There is plenty of new artwork on it, including some of my Animation work.) Enjoy!

I drew these while I was waiting to get my hair cut on Saturday.

Veggie Kid

Development sketches for a little kid character in an upcoming Flash Animation.

Snide Gestures

Dainty & Snide

My first crack at nailing down the details of the two characters in an organised model sheet.

Although, it wasn't a landmark film, "Nails" the spider from the film "Cool World" is definitely one of my favorite cartoon characters of all time. Recently, I watched the film "Christmas in Tattertown" (another Bakshi production) and there is a character in it whom I am sure was the precursor to Nails. This page was drawn under that influence.

Skull

Hi, I haven't posted in awhile. Here is something new.

Painted in Gouache.

Character Development

There is a certain kind of energy that arises when you search for what you want to say on paper. I challenge myself to draw as much as I can on a single page to maintain that energy and improve my previous design.

Painted in Gouache.

Snide

This is a character I've been working on for years. His name is Snide.

Gestures

Sharks

Drawn from ceramic statues from a museam in Halifax.
