Praise for Thoughts & Progress booklet!

I was unbelievably complimented today when I read Andy Nulman's (President of Just for laughs) newest blog post exclaiming his delights on the Thoughts & Progress booklet I created for the painting 'The Boastful Ghost'. Andy instigated the idea for the booklet and he writes about how much value is added in discovering the work that went into something.

Thanks to the people who came out to the 'les écrivains de demain' (the writers of tomorrow) group show with Illustration Quebec Thursday night! As mentioned the work will be on view till July 25th. Below is the illustration I did (12"x12" acrylic on wood panel) to compliment the story 'EHCRA' by 15 year old writer, Vincent Vaslin. The story is about a misunderstood alien abduction.

There is also a book, les écrivains de demain 2013 (the fouth edition) that collects all the illustrations and stories from the project together. In a later post, I will provide info for anyone interested in picking up a copy, but do note: the text is entirely in French. The painting I did is also for sale (and even framed), contact me if you're interested.

'Les écrivains de demain' (The writers of tomorrow) art show

Next Thursday June 6, from 5:00 -7:00 is the opening of the Illustration Quebec group art show I'm involved in at Le Grand Bibliotheque. And when they say grand - they mean GRAND - this library is massive! They included a map with the info they sent me just in case I had walked by the monolithic structure and never noticed it before. The show pairs up a young emerging writer with an illustrator who creates an original visual based on their short story. Hope to see some of you there!

More recently I've been framing my works. This is a glimpse of what's to come: I just sprayed these both this morning. The blue-purple one is for a group show in June, the yellow one will later have design elements added to it.

Life Drawing 2013

Here's some of the life drawing I've been doing lately. In Montreal, it's actually possible to go life drawing up to four (possibly more) times per week. (I've only done that once though.) Most of these were drawn at Syn Studio ( or at the UQAM classes on Sunday. Conte on Kraft paper.

Nuit Blanche

I completed this painting for one of the events during the Nuit Blance ( festival last night. Looking forward to it again next year! (It was for a psychedelic event. It's always a good idea to do your research and learn what your audience will be when you do a live painting.)

I'm calling this piece 'Smurfodelic'. Acrylic and ink on masonite, 24"x30"
